Hello my name is Charita Brown. I am from Petersburg, Va. A graduate of Petersburg high school in 2006. In March 2008 I enrolled into school for massage therapy at Virginia Career Institute (currently known as Fortis College). Completing school in December 2008 and receiving my license as a certified massage therapist in March of 2009.

 

How did I get into massage you say? What got me into massage was in my senior year of high school while in gym I was playing a game (wiffle ball) and I was running and my body went one way while my knee went the other. Resulting in me tearing my ACL in half as well as my cartilage on both sides of my knee. After receiving PT and some massage I realized I had an interest in the massage aspect of my treatment. So I enrolled in massage therapy school and the rest is history. I am now going into my 11th year as a massage therapist, where I’ve worked in various massage settings from a chiropractor office to Massage Envy.

In my 11 years as a Massage Therapist I have attained my certification in hot stone and prenatal massage, also stretch therapy just to name a few. In my long tenure as a massage therapist I have realized that even though I am a full range therapist (which means I range from relaxing Swedish massage to deep massage) I love therapeutic massage. I love to work on clients with acute/chronic pain. Whether if you suffer from headaches and in frequent basis or have severe hip pain I love to see our process together. If brings me great joy that I can help someone into becoming pain free. BEST FEELING EVER!!!

 

Most recently since I love therapeutic massage so much. I decided to further my massage career and went on to receive my certification in Medical Massage. As of June 2019 I am now a Medical Massage Practitioner. 

 

What is Medical Massage? I’m glad you asked. Medical massage is a therapeutic massage prescribed by a physician and performed following the directives of the physician. Once receiving a prescription through your physician we administer a thorough assessment/ evaluation to come up with a specific treatment plan for the patient.
